We know that, pizza box is made from carton box. When the hot pizza is placed in the box, the area in the middle of the lid is prone to sag under the influence of steam.
The longer the pizza stays in the box, the more steam concentrates on the inside of the box and makes the lid "flaky", easy to collapse. If there is no "backing", the pizza lid will stick to the cheese and pizza fillings until the box opens.
